For the past few years, the English
Advisory Group has worked so hard as to promote a wide array of effective and innovative
teaching strategies, such as Alternative Assessment, Differentiated Teaching and
Cooperative learning to name a few. As a result, we would like to encourage
teachers to integrate those techniques in their lesson plans in the hope that
students’ motivation and interests of learning can be significantly increased. On
top of that, we would also like to promote Professional Learning Community and
Collaborative Lesson Planning by requiring teachers to team up and finish this
task together.
This
competition was judged by a panel of experts, including Porf. Chai, Principal
Syu and a few members of the Group, who racked their brains all afternoon to decide
on the top three works. Our priority is to make sure that these lesson plans
can be “Plug & Play”, meaning they are highly applicable in authentic
setting. With video clips showcasing highlights of how those lesson plans were
actually carried out in the classroom, we can definitely have a clear picture.
Moreover, both teachers’ and students’ reflections on intriguing activities can
reveal more specific details as well.
Thanks to Porf. Chai’s professional
feedback and advice, those works will be more complete after revising. Then, we’re
going to invite those wonderful teachers to share their works with us at the
meeting on September 8. Each team will in public be awarded with both certificate
of merit and commendation for their hard work and wonderful job. Following that,
those wonderful works will be posted on our official website, eng-j.guidance.tc.edu.tw, so that those who
are interested in the lesson plans can feel free to download.
