The purpose of the Comprehensive Assessment Program for Junior High School Students, or CAP (國中教育會考) is to strike a balance of maintaining quality and reducing pressure, while students’ competitiveness and the quality of education can also keep going and improving at the same time. The test result is going to be categorized into three different levels, with each containing specific description, or rubrics.


 
 
When it comes to English listening comprehension, the main idea is to make sure our students can acquire some basic skills which can be applied in everyday conversations. Thus, all the test items will be designed this way accordingly. For example, there will be three different parts of listening items, including identifying the main idea, basic conversational response and comprehension.    So, how do we English teachers meet the challenge of preparing our students for the CAP in terms of listening comprehension? Well, Pro. Chen has provided some useful ideas and techniques.
