和平區梨山國中小及平等國小分區到校輔導

The English Advisory Group of Taichung City and some officials of the Education Bureau went to Heping District to hold a workshop and listen to the needs of English teachers of both schools, Li Shan Junior High and Elementary School and Ping Deng Elementary School.

But first of all, we would really like to appreciate the warm and friendly hospitality of the staff of Li Shan, for not only providing such an ideal venue but supporting the Group in terms of promoting the quality of English learning. Most important of all, all the English teachers of both schools attended today’s workshop and were very willing to share their ideas and thoughts with the Group.

The workshop began with Gloria’s briefing, compelete with a simple introduction to the Group’s job description and some important English policies. Following that, Ping Deng also shared the current English teaching practices and posed some questions with regard to the difficulities that they are facing now. Then, we discussed and exchanged some ideas which were mainly about the differences and difficulities of teaching in remote mountain villages.    

Of course, today’s meeting cannot be the solution to all the problems, but this is a good start because both sides have reached some consensus that those young learners in Heping may lack test taking skills compared with students in the city, but they are not reluctant to speak the language, and teachers can give more individual guidance to help them master the basics. Furthermore, those dedicated teachers from both schools truly command respect because they take on a very huge responsibility and bring hope through education.
