To arouse students’ interest in learning English and encourage them to work on their pronunciation, the Education Bureau has decided to hold English singing contest annually, hoping teachers can incorporate it as an effective teaching strategy that can also help students pick up interesting words and phrases. Thus, Lina Tseng, a very passionate, creative and resourceful English teacher from Xinzhuang Junior High School, shared her inspirational ideas and practices to help teachers build practical skills in coaching their students in preparation for the upcoming English Singing Contest held by the Bureau.
Lina has devised loads of worksheets using English songs to intrigue students’ motivation for learning complicated and difficult grammar. If you take a look at the index, you’ll be amazed by the fact that she really developed those resources extensively enough to suit every English teacher’s needs. Moreover, when you riffle through the pages, you can see many different teaching skills integrated, like lyrics dictation, pattern recognition, guessing games, to name just a few. She is more than willing to share those original creations with all the teachers who attended the workshop. Without a doubt, everybody has learned something useful from Lina today.
