How to teach adverbs in a fun way

First of all, I would like to appreciate that Hiang Shang Junior High School has provided such a comfortable environment for teachers to do their presentations. Of course, also thanks to the full preparation of the speakers, we could have such a wonderful afternoon and gain something insightful with various creative teaching ideas and practices. And, I also selected some video clips regarding human rights, a hot topic required by the MOE to be incorporated into all subjects of teaching. Now, the following is a summary of their spectacular presentations:
1.    向上國中黃秀琪老師
Mrs. Huang introduced how they adopt outside reading materials, like the English teaching magazines, to improve students’ English proficiency. By broadcasting the programs during lunchtime, students are expected to have more opportunities of practicing their listening comprehension. The magazine’s content also accounts for 15% of midterms.

2.    大墩國中賴國堂老師
With the very big help of the parents and efforts of the teachers, students there get to learn much more other than textbooks from teachers of the Morrison Academy, using English as the medium of instruction. Also, during morning rally section, students put on a simple English play, putting what they have learned into practice. College students volunteer to organize an English drama summer camp, cultivating students’ autonomy and creativity.

3.    惠文高中林益守老師
It’s not very common to see an English teacher deliver his or her speech so fluently in English, which is a good example that non-native speakers can also serve as a professional teacher being able to conduct a class interactively and authentically in English. The purpose of learning a language is not all about the memorization of vocabulary and grammatical structures. Therefore, based on the Communicative Language Teaching, or CLT, the presenter gave us a clear framework for the application of CLT in English classroom by dividing students into groups and assigning each of them a specific role in discussion. 

4.    大業國中曾怡惠老師
The teacher offered a good example of how to integrate human rights with English teaching. By providing the students with inspirational quotes from the movie, Invictus, they can discuss the hidden meanings and bolster awareness of the universal values, respecting and appreciating differences among people.
