    How has international education in the classroom made a difference? As an English teacher and a passionate English learner, Mr. Li explained the purpose of learning English and the experience of providing international style education in the classroom. He did collaborative lesson planning with Akiko, a Japanese English teacher who shared Mr. Li’s passion for teaching. They provided their students great opportunities to use English as communication, and helped motivate their students to learn effectively.     Modern technology is changing education for the better. Smartphones, laptops, and e-books are becoming increasingly more popular and more useful in the classroom. Ms. Lai’s discussion of the pros and cons of using electronic devices in the classroom based on her experiences provided positive support to the use of the many free teaching resources available on the e-books. In particular, she demonstrated how the use of e-books can save teachers’ teaching time, enhance students’ understanding, and improve learning. Successful teaching requires variety of presentation. Games and puzzles can be effectively used as warm-up activities or as timely shifts in the pace of the class. Ms. Chen shared many interesting ideas used to develop the students’ observation skills, imagination, creativity, and thinking abilities. She also shared her card game ideas that she effectively uses in the extended reading. The effective teacher of English grammar and vocabulary may already use this site: Pumkin Online English Language Course for Children (http://pumkin.com/). Any students who find English boring or difficult can benefit from the supplementary material that includes cartoons, animated videos and interesting and educational games. Considering the Internet instability and speed issue in the classroom, Ms. Wu introduced Peggo, a Digital Video Recorder that records MP4s of Fun English Cartoon Videos by pumkin.com.        How can teaching table manners be fun? Ms. Liao’s teaching demonstration used cooperative learning activities to help students construct knowledge and develop communication skills. For example, by watching a video about Table Taboos, the students discovered the Dos and Don’ts of table manners by themselves. They discussed and shared their answers with group members, usually arriving at their own reasonable conclusions.
